FITNESS/CURIOSITA’ DAL MONDO – Alex Larenty, un inglese 50enne, è un comune guardia parco, ma potrebbe aspirare a diventare un massaggiatore di leoni. Ebbene si, anche ai leoni piace essere massaggiati, almeno è quello che sembra dalla foto che il Daily Mail di ieri accompagnava alla notizia.
Jamu è un leone di nove anni che apprezza giocare a This Little Piggy – “Al piccolo maialino” – con Alex presso The Lion Park, un grande parco vicino a Johannesburg in Sud Africa. Il leone si sdraia e si lascia massaggiare le sue giganti zampe. “Il mio massaggio – spiega Alex – mantiene Jamu in forma e felice!”
L’uomo dice di avere instaurato un’amicizia speciale con il leone da quando ha cominciato a spruzzarlo con l’insetticida e dichiara di essere capace di camminare e lavorare in mezzo anche agli altri leoni perche ormai si è creato un mutuo rapporto di completa confidenza e fiducia.
Beato Lui, perchè lavorare con i leoni tutti i giorni, la fiducia reciproca non è cosa da poco!

This may not be one of the worst ways to make a living. There is lots of fresh air and the company is interesting too. Still, Alex Larenty, an English animal keeper living in South Africa, might have been able to find something simpler to do in life than giving shiatsu massages to lions.
The beast having its paw manipulated above is named Jamu. “He loves it – it’s his favourite game,” says Larenty as the 550 pound lion lies back and enjoys the massage. Larenty says he is able to work closely with the big cats because of the mutual trust developed by having reared many from birth. Jamu’s case though is a little different, as his keeper admitted to the Daily Mail: “I built up a relationship with Jamu through putting insect repellent onto him”.

The Japanese snow macaques above are “taking the waters” at the Jigokudani-onsen (“onsen” means hot springs in Japanese) in the mountainous Prefecture of Nagano, in Central Japan.
