LAVORO – I nostri pets sono tanto una parte delle nostre vite che sembra ingiusto non poterli portare con noi anche quando andiamo a lavorare. Però, come sa perfettamente chiunque abbia – poniamo – tentato di scrivere una tesi di laurea con un gatto che cammina sulla tastiera o una proposta di lavoro con il cane che salta addosso perché vuole andare fuori a giocare, è due volte una crudeltà: per loro perché s’annoiano e per noi perché finiamo per essere infastiditi dalle loro attenzioni.
Riconosciamo, per il bene di tutti – anche dei colleghi, se è per quello – che i nostri animali di compagnia appartengono alla sfera privata e non a quella professionale.

Our pets are so much part of our lives that it sometimes seems unfair that we can’t take them to work with us. On the other hand, as is clear to anyone who has, say, attempted to write a thesis with a cat walking on the keyboard or a work proposal with a dog that wants to go outside and play, trying to work with our animals around is a double form of cruelty: for them because they rapidly become bored and for us because we wind up irritated by their attention.
Let’s try to recognize, for the good of everyone – even of our colleagues, if it comes to that – that our animals belong to the private sphere and not to the professional one.
